Overview
MinuteMic is a speaking-practice app. You record yourself speaking on a topic, and we return AI feedback. This policy explains what we collect, how your audio is handled, and who we share data with. In plain terms: we do not store your audio — we use it only to create a text transcript.
What we collect
Account information — your email address and first name, collected when you sign up (managed by our auth provider, Supabase).
Your speech — when you record, we capture audio in your browser and process it into a text transcript. We also store the resulting scores, the topic, and the date of each session.
How your audio is handled
Your audio is recorded in your browser and sent securely to our servers, which forward it to Groq for speech-to-text transcription. Once the transcript is produced, the audio is discarded — we do not save audio files, and we do not retain any voice or biometric data.
Only the resulting text transcript is used for analysis, and only your transcript and scores are stored against your account.
What we store
We store your account details and, for each completed session, the transcript text, the four dimension scores and overall grade, the topic, and the date — kept in our database (Supabase) and tied to your account so you can see your history and progress.
Approximate location
When you complete a session, we derive an approximate country from your IP address (via our host, Vercel) for anonymous, aggregate analytics — so we know roughly where our users are. We store only the country, never your IP address, and it is not linked to anything you can be identified by publicly.
Public leaderboard
If you complete the daily "Topic of the Day", your first name and score for that day may appear on the public leaderboard, which is visible to anyone. We do not show your email, your transcript, or any other personal detail there. Contact us if you'd prefer not to appear.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run MinuteMic:
- Groq — speech-to-text transcription and AI feedback (processes your audio and transcript; does not receive your identity).
- Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account, transcripts, and scores).
- Vercel — application hosting.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in (your authentication session). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Your choices & data deletion
You can request access to, or deletion of, your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at minutemic.app@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MinuteMic evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
